bAk. is an iPhone camera app that keeps the person who took the photo alongside the photo. One shutter press captures the scene with the rear camera and the photographer's face with the front camera, and the face is printed on the back of that photo as a stamp-sized black-and-white image. Photos are grouped into rolls of 24 and cannot be seen until the roll opens. There is no server; everything happens on the device.

Questions

What is bAk.?

bAk. is an iPhone camera app that photographs the scene with the rear camera and your own face with the front camera at the same shutter press. Your face is kept as a stamp-sized black-and-white image on the back of that photo.

Why can't I see a photo right after I take it?

Photos develop by the roll, like film. Until the roll opens, its frames appear in the drawer as black latent frames and the app does not read the image files at all.

When does a roll open?

A roll opens the moment its 24th frame is taken, or 72 hours after its first frame if you never fill it — whichever comes first.

What happens when a roll opens?

You get a notification, and opening the app plays a film can emerging from the cutout at the top of the screen while the roll develops into a single contact sheet, frame by frame in the order you shot them.

Where does the photo of my face go?

Nowhere. bAk. has no server. Your face is stored only on this device as a 640px black-and-white image, and no colour original is ever created.

How much does it cost?

The first roll of 24 frames is free. Shooting beyond that needs a one-time lifetime purchase, not a subscription. Viewing, sharing and deleting what you already shot stays free regardless.

Which devices does it work on?

iPhone XS or newer running iOS 17 or later, because it needs simultaneous front and rear capture. Devices that cannot do that see an explanation instead of the camera.
